Barkley is the top pick – Gettleman has Best Draft in a Decade
By Michael Stewart @golferbad
1st Round: Saquon Barkley (RB) Penn State: The theory of not drafting a running back this early in the 1st round hasn’t seen Saquon Barkley on the football field. Despite the depth in this year’s running back class, Barkley’s overall talent is so far superior than any other back in this draft that he is a once in a decade running back who can do it all.
Anyone who is opposed to this pick and argued a quarterback should be taken; doesn’t understand football. Barkley will give the Giants an offensive weapon that they haven’t had since Tiki Barber. He can do it all, he is a threat every time he touches the ball and Giant fans are going to be in for a treat.
In my final mock draft, Barkley was my pick as this pick is a slam dunk and the best Giants 1st round pick since Lawrence Taylor’s selection in 1981.
Final Thoughts:
GM Dave Gettleman made a splash with his 1st draft as the Giants GM and it set the tone on which direction this team will be headed for the next 5+ years. Gettleman not only followed through by adding more size both sides of the ball; he also drafted the best offensive player and arguably the best running back (Saquon Barkely) since Adrian Peterson. The offensive now has the “get up and go” it needed for years.
