In support of New Jersey High School football we took at look at star performances from the week of October 2nd. There were a ton of players that balled out this week, Cheers! The Offensive Baller of the Week comes from Delbarton High School in Morristown, NJ.
The RUSH SPORTS “BALLER” of the Week: Ryan Trafford | Running Back
Ryan Trafford crushed it this week with 3 Touchdowns for 146 yards rushing and 21 yards receiving as No. 6 Delbarton steamrolled No. 11 Pope John 30-6. New Jersey boasts some of the best high school athletes in the country and Trafford is a major reason why Delbarton is running through thier schedule at 4-1.
The 6’1, 195 pound back caught fire last year (2022) with 1631 rushing yards on 255 carries. In 2023, Trafford has ripped off 549 all purpose yards over 5 games and has found the endzone 10 times. He is averaging 122 yards a game rushing since September 16th.
Trafford is a patient runner, with a long stride that can make guys miss. He is deceivingly fast, with a good cutback step and is exceptional at keeping linebackers and defensive backs off him with a stiff arm or a hand slap.
Trafford reminds the RUSH crew of NY Native and former Rutgers star running back, Brian Leonard. Leonard finished his Rutgers’ career ranked 4th all-time rushing yards (2,775), 4th all-time rushing touchdowns (32), 6th all-time receiving yards (1,864), 2nd all-time all-purpose yards (4,639), 1st all-time career points scored (272).
