Every few years as long as I can remember there is one guy, one player, that shows up to the New York Giants camp, sometimes even mid-season with little fan fair and just balls out. Who will be that guy in 2023?

History:

  • 2022 – Isaiah Hodgins (WR): Hodgins was buried on the depth chart in Buffalo w/ little opportunity on the horizon. Hodgins was cut, joining the Giants in week eight, and was a key player in the playoff push. 33 rec | 351 yards | 4 TDs.
  • 2016 – Andrew Adams (S): Adams showed up trying to make the team as a UDFA from Connecticut. He started 13 games. 46 tackles | 5 pass defended | 1 INT
  • 2019 – Marcus Golden (DE): Golden has two sacks in 2018 and zero in 2017 for Arizona. It looked as if Marcus Golden had run out of gas as an NFL player when he showed up in East Rutherford. 10 sacks | 42 tackles
  • 2012 – Stevie Brown (S): Brown was signed as a camp body and potential depth behind DRC and Quintin Demps after quick stints in Oakland and Indianapolis. Brown started 11 games for the Giants. 8 Interceptions | 76 tackles | 11 Pass Defended.
  • 2011 – Victor Cruz (WR): In 2010 the unknown, unsigned WR from UMass was stashed on the Giants’ practice squad after torching the Jets in pre-season. In 2011 he balled out. 1536 yards | 9 Td | 83 receptions

This is just a short list of players that have made an impact for the Giants after they were cast off, forgotten, or just underappreciated.

Who will that player be in 2023?

People preach don’t scout the helmet…well then, the New York Giants need Parris Campbell, the former OHIO STATE wide receiver to step and deliver.

Campbell is either a late bloomer or the dismal Colts didn’t know how to use him. Let’s be honest…has anyone really paid any attention to the Colts since Andrew Luck left?

Campbell has all but disappeared after being drafted in the 2nd round out of Ohio State in 2019. He did have his best year in 2022 with 623 yards | 3 TD’s but the expectations should be much higher for this speedy receiver.

With the Giants lacking a true #1 star…Campbell can easily grab this opportunity to deliver 800 yards and 7 TDS.
