NY Giants Recap: Giants vs. Bucs – Rant & Rave Week 9
Rant: All teams in the NFL have injuries. But what does it say that the NY Giants have had three players go down with the same freaky injury…a Pectoral tear. A pec tear is when a player tears the tendon off the bone. The Giants injuries are disheartening and devastating to the team. The team just does not have the depth.
Pectoral Injuries: Beatty, Ayers and Hankins all had the same injury.
Will Beatty who was on pace to be back in the starting lineup this week was put back on PUP today and is done for the season. This is very odd, in what is supposed to be an unrelated Rotator Cuff injury. Something here stinks…like the Beason injury.
Rave: Devon Kennard and Jasper Brinkley had a nice game against Tampa Bay. In fact, Brinkley and his 7 tackles, 1 forced fumble and 1 fumble recovery earned him a nominee for NFC Defensive Player of the Week. The 5th round pick in 2009 for the Vikings is making the most of his time in New York. Kennard complimented him w another 6 tackles.
Rant: The rotation of 4 running backs is down right stupid now. The Giants have zero momentum in the running game, and if by accident one back gets hot…McAdoo takes them out of the game. I just do not understand the logic.
Right now Andre Williams has not earned enough clout to deserve carries. Every organization has someone on the bench. It is also clear that Orleans Darkwa has a burst the other backs don’t, and Shane Vereen is a special player. He needs the ball more!
Rave: Thank the football gods for DRC. He is on pace to have one of the best seasons of his career. 33 tackles, 2 forced fumbles, 3 Interceptions, 6 passes defended and 1 touchdown. He should make the Pro Bowl; however, the 31st ranked pass defense will probably leave him short on votes.
Rant: The Giants have let up a league leading 2772 yards of passing. That’s pretty bad. The Giants have never had stellar defensive backs; however, Prince (when healthy) and DRC can be Pro-Bowl caliber. Wade and Jayron Hosley are absolutely terrible. How can a professional defensive back not know how to turn around and look back for the ball.
Double Rant: Something with Jon Beason injury just doesn’t jive. Beason has been shut down for the year with a bad knee and ankle, which basically ends his career as a New York Giant.
How did Beason tell everyone that he was going to play against New Orleans and still get shut down? He even made the trip to Louisiana. Why would he travel if he wasn’t going to play? Two weeks later, after “almost” playing…the Linebacker is shut down for the year.
Anyone wan’t to tell me what if going on?
Beason was a great player, yet now he is hurting the defense with his “lack of play”. He has been missing in action for a year and half and it’s time for the Giants to move on. Because the position is so thin the Giants need to sign or draft a stud player in the off season. Someone that can make an impact immediately.
Not one of those over-promised, under-delivered, Jerry Reese terrible signings. See: Schwartz, JT Thomas, JD Walton, David Bass, Brandon Myers, Dan Connor, George Selvie and many more…
Rave: Odell Beckham Jr. proves again that he is in a class all his own. Mike Evans is a nice receiver with major skills. Odell Beckham does not drop the ball…let alone 3 in one game.
