While the Giants accumulate a bevy of average talent in the 2015 NFL Free Agent period, one questions remains.
Where is the pass rush?
JPP may have received the Giants franchise tag to hold onto his “erratic” talent; however, his season of dominance is 3 years in the rear-view mirror. The situation gets worse as you look down the roster searching for play makers.
Robert Ayers is rehabbing from season ending surgery for a torn pectoral muscle and still can not lift weights. The word is that he will be ready for camp…maybe. Most of the Giants staff and fan base is still waiting for Damontre Moore to break out and show his talents and no one in the NFL is afraid of Kerry Wynn. Maybe someone is expecting 20 + sacks from Cullen Jenkins, Hankins and Bromley? My bet is 8 between the group.
I don’t think Tweeners can make it in NFL(Joaquin Williams) at linebacker or defensive end but there’s a part of me that wants the Giants to draft Vic Beasley, Shane Ray or Randy Gregory just to put some competition and speed at the position.
The Giants did make an effort to secure Eagles linebacker Brandon Graham but in the end Graham went back to Philly. Graham played linebacker in college, converted to defensive end when Andy Reid drafted him 13th overall after trading up in the 2010 NFL Draft.
Under Chip Kelly, Graham shined when converted back to linebacker and the Giants took notice. In the end Graham is not a Giant and the pass rush for Big Blue is still uninspiring.
