Break Out. You’ve heard of players just figuring it out. Maybe it starts with diet or a new trainer. Maybe a new position coach or even a new teammate. For Dexter Lawrence, it can be all of the above. He is quickly becoming a player that needs to be accounted for.

Watch the video below to get a feel for the third-year pro. He has developed a great inside rip, his footwork is good, and whether he is sliding down the line, absorbing the block to create leverage or bull rushing, Lawrence’s development has been exactly what the Giants had hoped for.

Giants fans don’t really know the player well and it’s completely understandable that he’s been overshadowed by Leonard Williams and the former captain Dalvin Tomlinson.

The Numbers:

From 2019 to 2020, Lawrence increased his tackles by 30%. That is not easily accomplished as a Defensive Tackle especially when Leonard Williams and Dalvin Tomlinson are your linemates. The video below will show a bit of his personality as he is mic’ed up for a game in 2020.

Trash Talking and Pre Game Dancing:

There is a good chance Lawrence could see an increase of snaps now the Tomlinson left for Minnesota. Lawrence has been used as the left and right Defensive End. Defensive Coordinator Patrick Graham can even use Lawrence in the A gap in a pinch; however, those snaps will be filled by newly signed DT, Danny Shelton.

2021 could be a breakout year for Lawrence now that he’s in the 2nd year of Graham’s system. He has already changed his diet, received a new DC, a new position coach, and plenty of new teammates to help free up the big man. Giants fans believe Dexter Lawrence could pull down 7 sacks, 63 tackles and 10 QB Hits for his 1st trip to the Pro Bowl.
