New York Giants GM Joe Schoen has added 37 players through free agency, the draft and during UDFA phase and has re-shaped the Giants current roster into one that he hopes will have a new culture and deeper talent to improve for the team’s 4-13 season in 2021.

When you break down all the additions you have 20 players added to the offense and 17 added to the defense. Not all of these players are guaranteed a spot on the 53-man roster or even the practice squad; which will allocate 16 spots for 2022. In this article, I would like to break down the starting units for each side of the ball if the season was to start today.

Offense:

Quarterback: Daniel Jones

Running Back: Saquan Barkley

Wide Receivers: Kenny Golladay/Kadarius Toney/Sterling Shepard

Tight End: Ricky Seals-Jones

Offensive line: Andrew Thomas/Max Garcia/Jon Feliciano/Mark Glowinski/Evan Neal

Defense:

Defensive Line: Dexter Lawrence/Justin Ellis/Leonard Williams

Inside Linebackers: Blake Martinez/Tae Crowder

Outside Linebacks: Azeez Ojulari/Kayvon Thibodeaux

Cornerbacks: Adoree’ Jackson/Aaron Robinson

Safeties: Xavier McKinney/Julian Love

Many spots are no-brainers and more than likely the majority of the fan base would probably mirror my selections here. However, when you look at the offensive side of the ball, one could argue that Shane Lemieux could start over Max Garcia or even another rookie could get the starting nod here, or perhaps Jordan Akins or even Daniel Bellinger could un-seed Ricky Seals-Jones for the starting TE spot. At wide receiver rookie, Wan’Dale Robinson could make it interesting as well.

On the defensive side of the ball, we could see some additions from this list, especially at the inside linebacker, cornerback and safety spots. Again, this list is if the season was to start today, but I expect to see GM Joe Schoen continue to add players to this roster before, during and even after training camp before the team’s season opener against the Tennessee Titans.
