The 2024 season for the New York Giants is going to be a pivotal year for GM Joe Schoen and Head Coach Brian Daboll as they look to rebound from a dismal 6-11 record in 2023. GM Joe Schoen and the New York Giants off season moves are being made public for all Giant fans to see through HBO Max show “Hard Knocks”. Thus far, after three episodes let’s breakdown the top 3 moments that Giant fans finally have closure to:
- Free Agency/Trade: Being a fly on the wall, we were able to be a part of what really goes on inside the walls of an NFL team during free agency. GM Joe Schoen targeted and focused on the offensive line, which has been the Giants Achilles heel for nearly a decade. Signing linemen Jon Runyan, Jermaine Eluemunor, Aaron Stinne, Matt Nelson, Jalen Mayfield and Austin Schlottmann. Schoen also made a bold move through the trade market by acquiring edge rusher Brian Burns for only a 2nd (2024) and 5th round pick (2025) to give Kayvon Thibodeaux and the rest of the Giants defense an impact player.
- Saquan Barkley: For the longest time Giant fans were torn between if the Giants really made an offer or not to retain Barkley beyond the 2023 season. Well, the cat is now out of the bag as Hard Knocks revealed that Joe Schoen did have a number in mind and Barkley decided to follow the money up interstate 95 to Philadelphia. Schoen quickly had a backup plan by signing RB Devin Singletary.
- The Draft: We only caught a glimpse of what I can only assumed shocked many Giant fans as the they had interest in possibly trading up at #3 (New England Patriots) to select QB Jayden Daniels and not Drake Maye, which many Giant fans believed was the target prior to the draft. For the record, I never believed that Maye was the target and always had Daniels ranked higher during the NYGiantsRush draft shows. Episode 4 should reveal more to this saga and paint a clearer picture.
