The New York Giants are coming off their bye week with a surprising 6-2 record heading into the 2nd half of the 2022 season.  The Giants first opponent will be the Houston Texans who own a 1-6-1 record with no hope in sight. Currently the spread is 6.5 points in favor of the Giants with the over/under currently sitting at 41 points. Here are my top 3 ways the Giants can get a win on Sunday:

  1. Giants Running Game vs Houston Run Defense: The Giants running attack is averaging 161.5 yards per game led by running Back Saquan Barkley who is averaging 97.4 yards per game and has 779 total yards from scrimmage and Daniel Jones (363) who is averaging 45.4 yards rushing. The Texan run defense has been ranked at the bottom in the league by surrendering 180.6 yards per game. The Giants must exploit this from the opening snap as we could see Barkley and Jones both rush for over 100 yards.
  2. Giants Pass Rush Awakens: The Texans have the third worst 3rd down conversion (31.1%) in the NFL and only mustarded up 188.6 yards through the air (26th). DC Wink Martindale had two weeks of preparation and should have a solid game plan in place as I believe the Giants could record five sacks in this game and make quarterback David Mills life miserable.
  3.  Big Play Opportunities: Both teams lack the firepower offensively and I believe both teams will struggle putting points on the board. However, I believe the Giants will be able to execute better from both sides of the ball and create more big plays than Houston; which should be enough to earn them their 7th win of the season.

Final Thoughts:  The Giants should cover the spread in this game, but it won’t be easy as the Giants are notorious for their slow starts; especially coming off a bye week. I see this game being a close affair early as both teams will be looking to establish the running game mostly. I believe the Giants will pull away mid-way through the 2nd half with a couple of big plays by Daniel Jones and Saquan Barkley and seal the win. Final Score: Giants- 23/Houston-13.  Keep an eye out for my article on the Top 3 reasons after the game between the Giants and the Texans,
