The New York Giants GM Joe Schoen has put himself into a corner as he prepares for the upcoming season. With losing records in two of his first three seasons, ownership has made it clear that the 2025 teams need to win a lot more than they lose. The Giants have interviewed four veteran quarterbacks with two of them possibly enroute to Canton once they retire. Let’s break down each one to see which quarterback will most likely be the Giants bridge quarterback for at least 2025.
- Aaron Rodgers: Rodgers played for the Jets last season compiling a stat line of 3,897 yards/28 touchdowns/11 interceptions. Rodgers will be turning 42 during the season, but it appears he still has enough in the tank to give the Giants what they need at the quarterback position.
- Russell Wilson: Wilson played for the Steelers last season compiling a stat line of 2,752 yards/18 touchdowns/5 interceptions. Wilson still can be a starter in the NFL and put wins on the board.
- Joe Flacco: Flacco played for the Colts last season compiling a stat line of 1,701 yards/12 touchdowns/7 interceptions. Flacco is far removed from his days with the Ravens and could fill in as a capable bridge quarterback while a rookie develops.
- Jameis Winston: Winston played for the Browns last season compiling a stat line of 2,121yards/13 touchdowns/12 interceptions. Winston would arguably be the most unpredictable quarterback as he has had moments of extreme highs and even lower moments of extreme lows.
The probability of the Giants drafting a quarterback in the upcoming draft is extremely high. The main question is: will it be in round 1? GM Joe Schoen can sit back and wait for either Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders to fall into his lap with the 3rd overall pick. However, there is a slim possibility that Schoen will wait and select some of the other noted quarterbacks in this draft, such as Jaxson Dart, Jalen Milroe or a few others. Currently, the New York Giants quarterback situation is in limbo with only Tommy DeVito on the roster. The suspense is building up and could continue all the way up until draft day.
