High Hopes for New Acquired Giants Receiver Coach
In the wake of losing Sean Ryan, the team’s wide receivers coach since 2007, after he accepted the same position with the Houston Texans, New York Giants’ newly anointed head coach Ben McAdoo has hired Adam Henry to fill the void.
The 43-year-old Henry was the wide receivers coach of the San Francisco 49ers last season and prior to that served as the Oakland Raiders’ tight end coach from 2007-2011. However, what is most appealing about this hire is Henry’s previous ties with current Giants’ wideouts Odell Beckham Jr. and Ruben Randle.
Henry was the wide receivers coach at LSU from 2012 to 2014 and coached Randle and Beckham Jr. for one and two seasons respectively during their collegiate careers with the Tigers. Henry also coached current Miami Dolphins‘ superstar Jarvis Landry for two seasons as well at LSU.
While under Henry at LSU, Landry finished fourth all time in school history with 77 single season receptions and third all time with 1,193 single season receiving yards. Meanwhile, Beckham Jr. ranked fourth all time in school history with 1,152 single season receiving yards and sixth all time in single game receiving yards with 204 with Henry’s guidance.
This might also be what the doctor ordered for the Giants to get Randle operating on all cylinders, that’s only “IF” he’s still around come training camp.
