Giants fifth round selection was the 5’11 209lb running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. out of Purdue. He also played 4 years at Iowa as wide receiver. Tracy was clocked officially at 4.48 in the forty yard dash with an excellent 40′ inch vertical.
Iowa Stats:
Tyrone was also the 2nd leading receiver for Iowa in 2019 with 589 yards and 4 TD’s. He has only one year of college experience at the running back position.
Purdue Stats:
His experience at receiver has enhanced his kick return ability, especially with the new kickoff rules. He averaged 25.5-yard average a return for Purdue. He’s older for a rookie at 24 years old.
Tracy rushed for 716 yard and 9 TD’s in 2023 and finished fourth in the country in yards after contact per rush.
Tough and elusive runner with superb catching ability out of the backfield that will prove to be a mismatch on many linebackers and safeties. Tracy brings a nice combination of power and elusiveness out of the backfield with a quick burst to open space.
As a receiver in the passing game, he lives in the flat and on occasion he may slip up the seam. Tracy is a tough physical player that doesn’t shy away from contact and can score on short yardage goal line.
Vision and patience are strong points for Tracy and don’t overlook his pass protection ability which is a strength of his going into the NFL.
