Tom Coughlin wants to keep coaching…it makes sense. No one likes getting fired, let go or asked to step down or retire. So his comments are expected.
However, the Giants have very big problems.
Coaching change: It seems to be a collective vote that the Defensive Coordinator needs to change January 1st. That might calm the masses but not for long if the special teams coach is still employed.
The Giants need to find a defensive coach with some fire. The days of smiling on camera when you’re getting your ass kicked by double digits are over. This type of meltdown does not happen to the Packers or the Steelers.
This may be just an opinion…but I do not see the Mara’s allowing Eli Manning to have a third Offensive Coordinator in three years unless they plan on looking up at their division rivals for another year.
Ben McAdoo is not ready to be a head coach, for he is still figuring out the coordinator position and Eli Manning needs to operate in a stable offense especially after signing a new 4 year deal. Yes, haters that is going to happen and Eli is the least of the problem from an execution standpoint.
His contract will be massive, but because the Giants are in the NFL basement this is no time to shed dead weight and bottom feed. The Giants have been doing that for far too long.
Players: This team needs talent and fast. JPP will be expecting a monster deal somewhere, just don’t expect it to be here with the Giants. Look long and hard at loosing Linval Joseph last season. Reese did not resign the defensive tackle and the Giants dropped like an anchor to the bottom of the league in stopping the run.
McClain and Ayers were great moves by Reese but without a pass rushers the banged up secondary does not stand a chance. Demontre Moore needs to be on the field every down and a top-tier pass rusher needs to be drafted, purely so the corners can survive in todays frenzy passing game.
No more Reese and his “projects” that can be coached up.
Everyone is still waiting for Johnathan Goff, Brian Kehl, Clint Sintim, Travis Beckum, Rhett Bomar, Adrian Tracey, Phillip Dillard, Mike Petrus, Greg Jones, Marvin Austin, and Adrien Robinson to work out.
Kiwi, JPP, Brewer, Adrien Robinson, Walton, Jerry and Herzlich need a new start somewhere else. This team needs a coordinator that players “play for”, go to battle for and in turn that coach…allows them to fly around and make plays.
This team is slow, lacks passion and has no sense of pride. Somebody go for it and light a fire. This franchise has been down way too long.
