NY Giants Rush Draft Report: Hargreaves did not fail drug test

By: Andrew Santoro

It looks like a fake twitter accounts strike again.  University of Florida CB Vernon Hargreaves, did not fail his drug test at the NFL Combine back in February.

The 5′ 10 204 lb. defensive back, is considered to be one of the top corners in the 2016 NFL Draft and still should be considered a premiere player that will make a difference at the NFL level.

Seems that the reports are not accurate.

“The truth is that Hargreaves did not fail the Scouting Combine drug test,” Florio wrote. “Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Hargreaves has received no information suggesting a positive test. (He would have heard something from the NFL by now, if there was an issue with his sample.) Also, teams have heard nothing yet about any players testing positive at the Scouting Combine, which could be one of the reasons why there have been no leaks.

Even with the way the country is progressing towards the legalization of marijuana the NFL has not. To make matters worse everyone invited to the combine is 100% aware that they will be getting a drug test.  So this news comes as a breath of fresh air that Vernon Hargreaves is doing everything expected of him.   Vernon Hargreaves is a major talent and will be an instant starter for some franchise.

A team like the Giants, tend to stay away from players with off field issues anyway.  You remember the Giants got burned by a promising young Safety named, Will Hill.  Hill seemed to be a long-term answer for Big Blue at the safety spot, but was released after failing multi drug tests.  Hill was also released by the Ravens for the same issue.

Teams are getting smarter and smarter on this front. The other side of Hargreaves as a player is that he’s a premier talent that produced a 39′ vertical jump and 130 inch broad jump, at the combine.  The question is how many teams will NFL teams overlook disappointing 40 times.

Vernon Hargreaves could go early as No. 9 to the Bucs or late as 15 to the Tennessee Titans.
