NY Giants Rush Pre-season Updates: NFL notable cuts
There were a handful of players cuts yesterday that could be looked at to fill the depleted roster of the New York Giants.
- CB – Tim Jennings – A nine-year veteran and two-time pro bowler. Jennings played five years with Bears and had his best season in 2012 with 9 interceptions. Jennings had some off field trouble and knee surgery in January. PFF still rated him a top 25 corner-back. If healthy, could be a great backup and push McBride at nickel.
- G – Donald Thomas – The Colts released Thomas after activating him from the PUP list. He tore his quadricep back to back years. He had signed a nice $14 million dollar deal in 2013 before the injury. The 8 year vet also played with New England, Detroit and Miami.
- S – Stevie Brown – The New York Giants know Stevie Brown very well as he played two years for Tom Coughlin. He is expected to sign today with Big Blue after passing a physical. He was already in the fold Sunday night after the Giants embarrassing loss to the Jets. Brown had a career year in 2012 with 8 interceptions while playing alongside Antrel Rolle.
