Giants fans plead to Mara: Please no more Jerry

As the 2015 season ends…the New York Giants are in a bit of a free fall.  Yes, they have royally made a mess of things in a circus like manner.

There is no time to reflect on the season or the loss to the Philadelphia Eagles because Tom Coughlin has stepped down. The media frenzy is moving at a whirl-wind pace and some how when the smoke has cleared…Jerry Reese is still standing as the New York Giants GM.

While it might have been time to move on from Tom, the timing has created a major storm, and in its wake are two very good coordinators that the Giants desperately should try to hold onto.   What Giants fans should be most distraught over is what didn’t happen, Reese is still behind building this team.

Beyond his smug press conference where he admitted the talent needs to be improved, he made sure to announce to the world, “he gives his all to this franchise”.  Really?  No one doubts his hard work, but his track record to evaluate talent and build a team is average at best.

Did Odell Beckham save his job?

Since taking over for Ernie Accorsi, eight years ago, Reese and his scouts have drafted over 30 players that are not on this roster today.  That equals 4+ years of wasted picks.

Don’t believe me…look for yourself:  (2008) Kehl, Goff, Woodson, Henderson,  (2009) Woodson, Wright, Bomar, Brown, Beckum, Barden, Sintim, (2010) Dodge, Tracy, Dillard, Sintim, Petrus, C. Jones, (2011) Scott, Williams, Sash, G. Jones, Brewer, Jernigan, Austin, (2012) McCants, Robinson, Wilson, (2013) Cox, Herman, Moore.

The Giants brass are handing 40 million dollars to a guy who refuses to draft or sign an impact free agent at the Linebacker position.  This is the same General Manager who refused to re-sign Linval Joseph, Antrel Rolle, or Martellus Bennett.  Reese also turned a blind eye to game changing offensive line talent like Evan Mathias and Mike Iupati. He’s also the same guy who cut wide receiver James Jones to keep Preston Parker.

Reese is also the same guy who over paid left tackle Will Beatty in 2013 with a five-year, $37.5 million contract that contains $19 million guaranteed, including a $12.5 million signing bonus. Are you kidding me?   Beatty missed the entire season with TWO off the field injuries.  (Pec tear from lifting weights and a mystery torn rotator cuff)

Where do they go from here?

At a minimum the Giants need to dominate the poor NFC East
