The Giants are 0-4: Top 15 things we learned

With a quarter of the season gone and the Giants sitting at 0-4 those pre-season “pie in the sky” predictions were nothing but dreams.  The game is played on the field, not on paper.

The rest of the season will be used for watching rookies develop and that old terrible saying, playing for pride.   With four games in the books….this is the top 15 things we learned about our NY Giants.

15. Brandon Marshall is not the same player he once was – he might be done

14. Losing Jonathan Hankins was bigger than anyone thought

13. Safety Darian Thompson is an average player

12. Brad Wing should lose his job

11. Aldrick Rosas should lose his job – bring back Mike Nugent tomorrow

10. Paul Perkins should lose his job (injury or no injury)

9. Wayne Gellman has won the starting RB job and ran hard today.

8. There is zero pass rush, especially with OV out.  Feels like 2015 all over again.

7.  Shane Vereen is being under used and will leave via free agency

6. Eli Apple has no technique or  ball awareness.

5. Rhett Ellison is an underrated and under used player

4. Wrong personal on the field/calling TO for 2 point conversions – unacceptable

3. Fluker made a difference

2. Richburg, Perkins, OV, Snacks, and Flowers were all injured in the Tampa game.

1. Eli Manning still cares about winning.  He gutted it out today, looked sharp and did everything he could do to win.  The rest of the team can not say that.

Over All –  The GM of the Giants has let this team down time and time again.  It’s the crux of the problem.  Bad drafts and free agent moves. What has he done since the 2011 Super Bowl.

  • Hankins leaving
  • Linval Joseph leaving
  • Martellus Bennett leaving
  • Letting Robbie Gould or Mike Nugent walk
  • Releasing James Jones
  • Releasing Chris Hogan
  • Not Signing a real LT over the last 5 seasons
  • Not signing a real RT over the last 5 seasons
  • Not signing a real RG over the last 5 seasons
  • Not signing LeGarrette Blount
  • Signing a FB when you already signed a TE/FB for $18MM over 4 yrs.
  • Drafting Prince and Marvin Austin (2011)
  • Drafting David Wilson, Rueben Randle and Hosley (2012)
  • Drafting De Moore, Nassib and Cooper Taylor (2013)
  • Drafting Bromley and Andre Williams (2014)
  • Drafting Flowers, Owa, Mykkele Thompson (2015)
  • Drafting Eli Apple and Darian Thompson (2016)
  • Drafting (2017 TBD)

This team does not have the personnel, the horses or the leadership.   No Strahan, No Tuck, No Rolle.  It’s a wash.
