The NY Giants have drafted Arvell Reese from The Ohio State University with the 5th overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft.
Measurables:
- 6’4”
- 240 lbs
- Position: LB
Arvell Reese is a linebacker that the Giants should expect to be versatile and be able to produce everywhere on the field. After getting rid of Captain Bobby Okereke in the offseason, the Giants have added two additions to the LB department in free agent signing Tremaine Edmunds and Reese.
Reese ruled the 2025 season as the centerpiece of the absolutely loaded Buckeye Defense. He was a Consensus All-American and the Big 10 Linebacker of the Year. His speed is completely shut down and his versatility, as aforementioned, is elite. His coverage does remain a question mark, though, as he constantly gets caught flat-footed in play action. His pass does have extreme upside, but that more comes from his freak athleticism. For example, his 40-yard dash is in the 97th percentile for LBs.

Career at Ohio State: 112 Tackles | 7 Sacks | 13.5 TFL
I really hope they don’t use Reese as an Edge Rusher because that makes it four total in that department and 3 high-end picks in Thibs, Carter, and Reese. Don’t forget that Burns was a first round pick too with the Carolina Panthers in 2019. Overall, Dennard Wilson should be excited to have this freak of nature in his arsenal, and the Giants LB core should be secure for years to come.
