Giants vs Cowboys: Film Session: Week 14

by Tom Peticca

Well that was the biggest win of the season so far.

The Giants battled back against the best team in the NFL and won in a dogfight. Not only was it huge because the Dallas Cowboys are leading the division, but heading into the game all the Wild Card contenders had already won.  The defense played lights out!  I think the league is starting to notice how legit they really are.

That being said, for as good the defense played, the offense played equally as bad, starting with the offensive line. The most important position on the line as we all know is Left Tackle.  So the focus of this week’s film session: Dog of the Week is Ereck Flowers.

I honestly think there’s an argument to be made that Ereck Flowers is Reese’s worst draft pick yet. Flowers is a top 10 pick that consistently seems to play worse and worse every week. Defensive ends constantly are burning him and putting Eli Manning under pressure every play.  No quarterback can succeed when he gets heavy pressure from his blind side on what seems like every play.

With Pugh hopefully coming back this week I say McAdoo has to put him at left tackle because no way he plays any worse than Ereck Flowers has been.  Pugh would be rusty, but like I said…he can’t be any worse than what we are seeing now.  With a defense this elite the NY Giants are poised to make a strong playoff run but if the offensive line doesn’t step it up, it will inevitably be their downfall.  It’s time for Flowers to get out of the starting lineup.  Let’s not forget how he missed the block on Sean Lee that got Paul Perkins crushed.

Enough is enough, he has proven he can’t play this year and he should not be the player to hold Big Blue back.
