It’s tough to pay everyone.

As you saw with Dalvin Tomlinson, without a hometown discount, teams can’t afford multi-megastars. There are guys that go out of their way to make sure they can stay on the team they love and win. Tom Brady has always been that guy. Eli Manning restructured two or three times to make sure the team had cash; however, after 2011… the Giants did nothing to secure a good offensive line for Manning. When you play 15 years, you will need three reincarnations of an offensive line.

Build it:

Right under your nose, Dave Gettleman has constructed a dynamic defense. They are young, hungry, humble and they can ball. Regardless of what Daniel Jones does GM Dave Gettleman has signed, traded, and drafted defensive players that have the ability to bring this team to the playoffs for the next five years.

Jabril Peppers is a vital part of the New York Giants and needs to be resigned. He checks all the boxes, improving in every category that is meaningful AND he was targeted 20 more times in 2020 (NYG) than in 2018 with the Browns. He has increased his snaps playing at the line of scrimmage as a box safety or that hybrid linebacker in Graham’s defense. Let us not forget he is a return specialist and a captain in 2020.

Production:

Two years in New York vs 2 years in Cleveland

  • Forced Fumbles: 4 (NYG) vs 0 (Browns)
  • Passes Defended: 18 (NYG) vs 8 (Browns)
  • Tackles: 167 (NYG) vs 137 (Browns)
  • Tackles For Loss: 13 (NYG) vs 6 (Browns)
  • QB Hits: 5 (NYG) vs 4 (Browns)
  • YDs/CMP: 10.9 (NYG 2020) vs 12.7 (Browns 2018)
  • TD Given Up: 2 (NYG 2020) vs 5 (Browns 2018)

I’m not that guy to stress over money, especially with the cap going up in 2021. This past year the “magic man” Abrams pulled off a miracle with Golladay, AJackson, Booker, Ross, Rudolph, and resigning Leonard Williams. Make sure your voice is heard, Jabril Peppers needs to be resigned.

Nate Solder has an $18MM cap hit in 2022 or a $4MM dead cap number. Easy. Sterling Shepard is a fan favorite; however, will need to extend out a year and restructure if the Giants are to find some cash for Peppers. Logan Ryan has a $10MM salary & an $11.5MM dead cap hit. Another candidate to restructure to free up cash for a fellow DB.

Intangibles:

Leader, best open-field tackler on the team, New Jersey native, respected locker room guy, and a player who flat out loves football. Make your voice heard, make sure the Giants Brass know you want Peppers back.
